Weaving Shuttle
David Boyajian, 2015.
Stainless Steel.
Chosen from a selection of submissions by the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.
Boyajian said the Weaving Shuttle “serves as a visual and poetic narrative of Mansfield’s prominent role in the 19th century American textile industry”. It is a larger than life tableau of weaving shuttles, thread bobs, and weaving thread. Mansfield had the first silk mill in North America (built c. 1810, on Hanks Hill Road).
